Rent a Pallet and MLR Forestal: a commercial relationship based on quality

Jurgen Flores, country manager in Nicaragua of the company Rent a Pallet, responds with satisfaction about the relationship with MLR Forestal that started about eight months ago: “there is good communication, delivery times are correct, we are well aligned and there are no complaints. The product of MLR Forestal is of good quality and the experience is definitely good.”

Rent a Pallet, a company present throughout Central America, the Caribbean and Colombia, buys monthly pieces of wood from MLR Forestal to repair poles or pallets. MLR also supplies pallets to other major companies such as Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua (Flor de Caña) and Compañía Cervercera de Nicaragua, CCN (commonly known in Nicaragua as Cervecería).

As part of this business relationship, Esteban Alvarado, regional coordinator of occupational health and safety of Rent a Pallet made a visit in March 2023 to the facilities of MLR Forestal in Siuna. Rent a Pallet’s link with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) was what motivated this visit.

“Within its dynamics, the IDB requires to have a cooperation interaction in terms of occupational health with the different suppliers and in the case of Nicaragua one of them was MLR Forestal, one of the two largest we have in the country,” explained Alvarado.

MLR Forestal: a company, open to recommendations and diligent in implementing solutions

Alvarado arrived at MLR Forestal in March 2023. He made a tour, made a basic inspection of occupational health and safety and a few weeks later delivered to the company a report with the findings and recommendations.

“The dynamic was very successful with MLR Forestal. They had a very high grade and the recommendations were punctual, if I remember correctly, there were only two or three of about fifty points that we evaluated. When we delivered the report, the company made an effort to deliver the necessary adjustments and they shared with us the evidence that the recommended had been corrected, we reviewed it in a follow-up meeting and we considered it completed,” said Alvarado.

The executive said that on the part of MLR Forestal there was not only compliance but that “they were attentive, open to receive the recommendations, we had effective communication to identify the activities to be followed and there was diligence to solve in the short term the issues raised in the recommendations under previously agreed standards”.

Flores also emphasizes that wood is always measured with precision. “I give great value to the fact that the wood is well millimetered, the cut is made according to our technical sheet and that means that the quality of our product is respected since that piece that MLR Forestal sells us represents an important replacement for the pallet to continue working correctly at an aesthetic and structural level”.
